Starting, Acceleration, Power and Mileage
USE THIS 8-WAY CHECK
Only a gasoline refined to produce the utmost in motoring efficiency can meet the triple test. Some gasolines give an extra-quick start but lack power; others
may have an abundance of power but are too hard to
start and lack a quick pick-up for traffic driving.
That's why it will pay you to check your gasoline
three ways: for starting, acceleration, power and
mileage, and when you do that—you'll be a confirmed
Dixie user.
THE POWER TO PASS
—THAT'S DIXIE GAS!
SALINE WOMAN'S CLUB
Meeting of tne Saline Woman's
Club was held at the home of Mrs.
W. E. Dietiker February 19. After
being called to order by the president,
the program of the afternoon was
heard.
Miss Mills announced a series of
one-act plays of a patriotic nature
and with appropriate costumes.
First, Mrs. Orrin Briggs gave "The
Landing of the Pilgrims." This was
followed by "Paul Revere's Ride," by
Mrs. Stierle. Mrs. William Hart,
dressed to represent Washington, instructed "Betsy Ross" how to make
our flag, and Mrs. Dietiker read about
the making of the flag.
Miss Mills gave a very enjoyable
collection of patriotic numbers at the
piano.
Mrs. Fred Aprill, also in costume,
gave a very stirring reading of Barbara Frietchie. Mrs. C. H. Miller,
representing Abraham Lincoln, was
enthusiastically received and listened to, as she gave his memorable Gettysburg Address.
Mrs. Fred Burkhart, dressed to represent a veteran of the late war, gave
two most pleasing and appropriate
vocal solos.
Roll call was responded to by patriotic quotations.
The program eoricluded with a
splendid and inspiring paper, "A
Tribute to Our Country," by Mrs.
Alexander. j
At the business session several important matters were brought up. It
was agreed that communications
should be sent two magazines, protesting against advertisements to en-
encourage ' women smoking. Also
that a communication should be sent
• protesting against the introduction in
our Legislature of a bill legalizing
race track gambling.
We arranged further, about putting
on a motion picture with Mr. Zimmerman's help, to obtain money to give
a good radio to the school, as suggested by the school committee.
This picture will be .put on Friday
afternoon and evening and Saturday
evening, March 15 and 16. It promises to be a real pleasure, and we
hope will be liberally patronized, as
we are anxious to install a good radio
in the school. Everyone please save
one of these dates.
The next meeting will be held with
Mrs, Unterkircher Tuesday, March 5.
MISSING WORD CONTEST
IS COSHNGNEXT WEEK
All or our readers are thoroughly
familiar with our Educational Missing
Word Contests, which we have run
from time to time for several years.
To say the least they have always
been of the most interesting and fascinating character, engaging the attention of people in all walks of life.
We have often been asked wh.en we
would have another. There is but one
man in the United States who controls this copyrighted feature, and it
is difficult to* get hold of the gentleman, J. Frederick j Jones, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mr. Jones is
here now and working on the feature and if all goes well the contest
will be started in?next week's Observer. „
Someone has said that, there is a
pot of gold at the 'end of- the rainbow. Well, we don't know about
that, but one thing we are sure of—
there will be a pot of gold at the end
of this splendid feature, and it is going to be your opportunity to try to
"bag" it, as the saying goes. At least
your chance, gentle reader, will* be as
good -as the next fellow's.
Time and space forbids this week
of going into details, but be sure to
get next week's paper, wherein full
details will be given and the project
successfully launched. Just wait and
be patient a few days more and you
will be given the full particulars.

SALINE "WINS FROM DEXTER
Dexter, February 22
The purple and white quintet added another victory to its ever-increasing list here tonight, 25 to 10.
The team showed a complete reversal of form displayed in the Milan and
Clinton games, repeatedly penetrating
the opponents' offense for baskets
with little difficulty.
The score was 17 to 7 at the half,
due chiefly to the excellent work of
Captain Estermyer, who collected a
total of 12.
After the first half Coach Knisely
sent in a host of subs and the scoring was temporarily checked, although not enough to allow Dexter
to come anywhere near to victory.
Chase played a good game for Dexter, totaling four field goals, which
accounted for eight of his team's ten
points. Cushing made tne other two
on foul shots.
Estermyer was high point man for
Saline, boasting 12, followed by Lambarth with five. Bill carr didn't see
much action, Ward Ernst playing
most of the game for him. As a result he only collected two points.
Saline plays Manchester here tomorrow night. Don't fail to be on
hand because the Saline boys are confident of victory. So be there and
help them win.

Second Team Wins
The Saline Reserves, with almost a
new team, overcame the Dexter Reserves. At the -half Saline almost
had the game cinched, the score being 18 to 3.
It seemed that all they could remember from previous games was
"shoot." Hardly any shots were taken from inside the foul line and they
were rebounds.
Bowen and Jordan tied for high
point honors, with six each. Louis
Bowen has been doing some nice
work. In a game between the Scouts
and Sophies he scored 12 points,
which covered up the Scouts' eight.
The Saline guarding was the interesting feature of the contest, led by
Noble and Gross. The latter probably
will see service at his post the remainder of the season, if not promoted to the first squad. Arend had a
job filling Ernst's place, but managed
to ring up a couple of points. Dex-
ter's hero, Cushing, refereed this affair.
