It is said the "Womanless Wedding" is one of the funnrest offerings
ever presented in Saline ,and this is
vouched for by those Avho saw it produced in Milan a short time ago,
where it "went over" big. The men
in the cast are going to get a lot of
fun out of it as well as the audience.

Starting, Acceleration, Power and Mileage
USE, THIS 8-WAY CHECK
Only a gasoline refined to produce the utmost in mo;
toring efficiency can meet the triple test. Some gasolines give an extra-quick start but lack power; others
may have an abundance of power but are too hard to
start and lack a quick pick-up for traffic driving.
That's why it will pay you to check your gasoline
three ways: for starting, acceleration, power and
mileage, and when you do that—you'll be a confirmed
Dixie user.
THE POWER TO PASS
—THAT'S DIXIE GAS!
The Observer starts cuday its Educational Missing Word Contest, a
copyrighted feature which we have
used several times. Mr. Jones was
received very kindly by all of the
business men, who have always appreciated his proposition.
The feature is one of the outstanding systems of display advertising
and it has never failed to do what it
is intended to do. educate the entire
household to the very careful reading
and study of the individual mer-
advertisements.
Our readers, we know, w;U welcome
the feature, as they have in J-tie past,
and will all eagerly particpiate in it.
We do not think it necessary to go
into details as to the -working of Uv=
plan, but for fear there are some who
may be among the many new subscribers we have received who are nol
fully posted we will explain the essential points.
The contest comprises almost two
full pages of display advertisements
of merchants of Saline and Ypsilanti.
and may be found on pages six and
seven, which will appear each weeK
for twelve weeks.
The contest editor has this week,
and will each week, remove one wholfe
word from two of the ads on thes&
two pages which, when omitted, will
spoil the reading or the grammar of
the sentences.
How to Locate the Words
On the Ypsilanti page of ads yoi.
will find a set "of rules which govern
the contest." These must be read
carefully before you start to hunt the
missing words, as the "tip" is given
there how to locate the elusive words.
With this in mind you proceed to read
and study the ads, word after word.
If you should think you have located
both words before you have gotten
through reading all, don't stop, but
peruse every last one for you are apt
to make a mistake and that may cost
you a nice purse of money. Not until every member of the family has
located the same -words you have do
not fill out the RETURN ANSWER
BLANK, which you can find on the
first (Saline) page of ads. This is
the most accurate plan. Write plainly
and be sure to get your answer to
.The Observer office, Saline, Mich., in
the specified time "(see rules) each
week.
There will be two new words to locate each week and they will not be
superfluous ones either. Each week
we shall make them harder, so get
your dictionaries ready.
But. "one answer will be allowed
each family each week. All may assist one to win.
No one but the contest editor knows
what the words are and he "won't
tell." At the conclusion of the contest a full text of the words will be
published and the ads they were
omitted from. '
, The Cash Prizes
See rules for the casn prizes that
go to winners. They are indeed worth
while. Now, we think we Have made
everything plain, but for fear some do
not yet understand, he free to call
the ofiice and any further information will be cheerfully given. Now
go right to your rules and read them
carefully, then go on a real hunt for
the two intentionally omitted words.
Take your time, as you have fully six
days in which to locate the words
and get your anwsefs.
Now, "Let-er-go!"

OUR LINDY
A short resume of the life of
Adolph Lindeman, candidate for the
office of alderman of the village of
Saline.
About thirty years ago a fair-haired youth hoeing pumpkins on his
father's farm in Lodi township, rested from his labor, wiping the sweat
from his brow and leaning upon his
hoe he gazed into the distance. Looking down the vista of time, he saw
himself holding positions of responsibility and enjoying the confidence of
the people, and his dream has come
true. He has been unanimously nominated for the office of Alderman of
the Village.
The voice of the people will not be
denied.
THE COMMITTEE.
CARD OF THANKS
I wish in this way to thank my
many friends and neighbors for the
many acts of kindness shown to me
in my sickness, for the beautiful
flowers and plants, the good things to
eat and for the cards and letters I
received.
Mrs. A. R. Lee.

MOTORISTS ADVISED TO - j
KEEP OUT OF RUTS j
i
Observers of gravel road conditions
during the thaw of the past week
have offered the suggestion that if
the motoring public would not drive
in the ruts it would save the roa.ds
to quite an extent. Tne ruts being
full of thin mud and water, automobiles splash this out and keep cutting
deeper, leaving nothing but bare
stone in the ruts when the roads
settle.
County and state roads are posted
with signs asking motorists to use
the entire road and not follow the
ruts, and a campaign of this nature
is thought by many to be advisable in
the case of township roads. There
are times, of course, when the roads
are so soft that it is impossible to
drive out of the ruts, but during tho
past week the roadbed was solid
enough to keep out of the ruts and
drive in safety.
Wm. C. Pritchard, Sylvan township
highway commissioner, states that
the state law which requires that
trucks reduce their loads to one-half
their capacity during the spring
break-up, will be enforced in the
township this year. Most truck drivers observe this law, but those not
using the proper amount of judgment
in the matter must pay the penalty.
