Clinton Gets the Breaks on: the Stick
Work and Wins Handily. „
Saline lost Sunday's game to Clinton, 2 to ,6. The usual trouble of a
hit going directly at some player is
still following-us. In the eighth inning Schmid hit" a liner to third base
that would have scoijed Gordon if it
had heen a foot to one side of F_ahrle,
and in the ninth Gross hft^direpily-to
first, doubling H. Austin. "" . „V 't
We are still playing home*l>&|rer3
and will continue to do so^witt, or
lose, but we still see new playersf on
the other teams. I suppose newiaii-
ilies keep moving into .the*. §|her
towns around us. *-
Hoeft pitched a good game, allowing but 8 hits, and with oetter support and our share of the breaks
would have come through.
The attendance shows that the fans
like good, clean baseball.

S Will Entertain Saline and

As announced last week, Saline is
to be royally entertained on the evening of Tuesday, July 30, when,
through the courtesy of the Ypsilanti
Chamber of Commerce the splendid
Central High School band of that
"city will visit us and give us a fine
concert. There also will be a few
brief talks by some of the Ypsilanti
business men who will accompany the
band, and responses by one or more
Saline Rotarians, the club sponsoring
the affair.
The concert will be given on the
school lawn if the weather is nice,
and if it rains it will be fheld in the
opera house. It is hoped all local
citizens will be on hand to welcome
our visitors, and as many from the
country as can possibly spare a few
hours that evening. Everything is

THRILL HUNTING YOUTH
AT LIBERTY THEATRE SOON
""razz Age" Coming for Saturday
and Sunday.
With all its thrills and tears, hilarity and heartaches, the pleasure-
seeking younger generation will take
possession of the screen of the Liberty theatre Saturday evening, when
"Jazz Age," featuring Marceline Day,
Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Henry B.
Walthall, Myrthle Stedman and Gertrude Messinger, will be shown.
"The Jazz Age" .follows the maddening pace of flaming youth in a
small town, with young Fairbanks,
Marecline Day and Gertrude Messinger representing the principals
among the excitement-mad, sub-deb
set. Fairbanks depicts a reckless boy
whose escapades are a strain on the
modest prosperity of his father, a
staid and respected citizen, portrayed
by Walthall. Intriguing comlieations
arise when Fairbanks seeks to prevent his "kid" sister—Gertrude Messinger—from associating with the
crowd in which he is the brightest
flame.
Through all the hectic happenings
of the jazz-propelled adolescents, a
love story of impelling dramatic sincerity develops between Fairbanks
and Miss Day, whose father is the financial and political boss of the towD
and the civic enemy of Fairbanks'
father. A wild ride on a stolen street
car on the part of Fairbanks and
Miss Day, death-inviting races with
motorcycle policemen, and other incidents of thrilling action are liberally sprinkled throughout the feature.
