Extra Mileage, Extra Anti-Knock, Extra Power, Extra Dry, Extra Quick Starting—
WHAT DO THEY MEAN "EXTRA"
So many other gasolines are "Extra" this or "Extra"
something else that sometimes we wonder whether
we shouldn't use some fancy phrases ourselves.
And then we realize that all of the things that
they call "Extra" are the very things which we consider essential to a really fine gasoline. To describe
Dixie in their terms we'd have to tell you that it is
"Extra" Gasoline.
We'd rather say it is good—and let you find the
extras.

MOST PLANTS ^EED
PLENTY OF DRINKS
, BLISSFIELD SUG-AR FACTORY
! GOOD FOR 12,000 TONS
Daily Baths Also Aid in Keeping
Foliage Thrifty in. Dry
Atmosphere.
House plants growing in containers
need water often, but if the soli
around the plant is always saturated,
the -plant dies because the roots can
not obtain enough oxygen, according
to horticulturists at Michigan State
college.
The moisture requirements or the
different varieties of house plants
vary considerably but some of- the
troubles of providing proper amounts
of water can be avoided if the pots,
in which the plants are set are placed
in copper or iron trays and a layer
of pebbles is placed in the bottom oi
the tray to permit water to drain
from the flower pots.
The foliage of the plants as well
as the roots need moisture and, if
water is sprayed upon the leaves with
an atomizer once or twice a day, the
plants will remain in a more healtny
condition. The atmosphere in most
dwelling houses is too dry to provide
an ideal environment for plants.
Flowering plants bloom most satisfactorily if they are placed in a
sunny, south window, but plants
grown chiefly for their foliage are
most thrifty if placed in an east or
a -west window. All .plants require
a relatively large amount of light but
their need for direct sunlight :s
variable.
Information about the proper care
of plants is given ni Circular Bulletin No. 99, "House Plants", Michigan
State college. All college bulletins
are mailed free to those who request
them from the bulletin clerk.
I Over in the southern part of Lenawee county, the beet .growers are
finishing up their harvest, and_ the
factory at Blissfield will continue until about Saturday. So far this season the Great Lakes Sugar Company
has manufactured over 12.000 tons
of sugar and the growers have re-
, ceived approximately 54.00 per ton
i for bets. The total price will depend
upon the profit made by the company
when the season ends. The mill this
year was run on sort Of a profits
sharing basis, to the growers who
were willing to raise beets and take
a chance on the outcome. From all
indications the plan wilt worx out
satisfactory to all concerned. The
beets this season were of fine quality, and the weather has been ideal
for harvesting. Crops were delivered
and received without delay, which
. was sort of a bone of contention last
! year.—Clinton Local.

Quite a number of business houses
in nearby towns are closing out their

is a joke to watch them, go about it.
Houses that have never advertised
excepting in a half-hearted and desultory way, suddenly wake up and
advertise their going-out-of-business

advertising they neglected or only
half employed in the'past, whlcn was

the first thing they do when tney
