Saline High lost its first game of
the season when it bowed to Edison! 3Enstitute in . a, non-league tilt
at Greenfield Village Friday. In a
tight- on& which went eight innings, Edison was able'to nose out
the Rockets 8 to 7,
With the fielding of Saline failing
for the first .time, Edison scored
their runs on just six hits. Six errors, four passed-balls, and two batters hit" by pitches^ balls proved
costly to the Rockets*

James Campion, of the research
department of the 3Ford Motor Company at Dearborn, wag guest speaker at the meeting of the Rotary
Club at The Tavern last Thursday,
and his address proved interesting
and enlightening. He brought with
him -a numiber of jars of soy beans
and their byproducts the contents of
which he explained, also a number
of automobile parts in which the
beans, in one form or another, play
an important part.
. The principal function of the
beans is to produce oil as a base
for enamels and paints and this
amounts to about 20%" *6f the whole,
and the big problem is to find uses
for the meal that is left after the
oil 3has been extracted. The meal
is good for feed f&r Uvestoek and
in addition research has discovered
a very good s:ynthetie yarn may be
made, and of course the end is not]
yet. i . 1
It is interesting to note that of
the cash crops for farmers . in the
United States soy beans rank high*
est in returns per acre followed by
peanuts.
Members of the club -will pay a
visit to the local plant, which with
the new plant in 3Milaii, extracts
soy bean oil, following the business
session this noon.
Guests at the meeting in addition
to the speaker were Leonard Hutzel
and Edwin Herinig, local manager
of the Ford plant, who will condust
the party through the institution
this afternoon.

In a tight- on& which went eight innings, Edison was able'to nose out the Rockets 8 to 7, With the fielding of Saline failing for the first .time, Edison scored their runs on just six hits. Six errors, four passed-balls, and two batters hit" by pitches^ balls proved costly to the Rockets* Edison started " scoring in the James Campion, of the research department of the 3Ford Motor Company at Dearborn, wag guest speaker at the meeting of the Rotary Club at The Tavern last Thursday, and his address proved interesting and enlightening. He brought with him -a numiber of jars of soy beans and their byproducts the contents of which he explained, also a number of automobile parts in which the beans, in one form or another, play an important part. . The principal function of the beans is to produce oil as a base for enamels and paints and this amounts to about 20%" *6f the whole, and the big problem is to find uses for the meal that is left after the oil 3has been extracted. The meal is good for feed f&r Uvestoek and in addition research has discovered a very good s:ynthetie yarn may be made, and of course the end is not] yet. i . 1 It is interesting to note that of the cash crops for farmers . in the United States soy beans rank high* est in returns per acre followed by peanuts. Members of the club -will pay a visit to the local plant, which with the new plant in 3Milaii, extracts soy bean oil, following the business session this noon. Guests at the meeting in addition to the speaker were Leonard Hutzel and Edwin Herinig, local manager of the Ford plant, who will condust the party through the institution this afternoon. * The remarkaible returns from Observer Liners would almost indicate that this newspaper had a broomstick rider.
