VOLUME 59
SALINE, WASHTENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN, THURSDAY, MAY 2, 1940

A bank never considers it a favor if it
grants you a loan. You need the money j
and we like to lend it on good security, for 2
only in this way can we keep the funds of j
the bank at work for the good of the com- 1
munity, to earn the interest paid depositors I
and make a fair profit for our stockholders. . !
If we think the loan a proper one we shall |
approve it at once. If we feel it does not j
meet the rigid requirements of safe bank- 1
ing we shall frankly tell you so and why.

The One Story Bank On the Corner
was accomplished on home soil j
The contest, a pitcher's battle i
throughout, was decided in the I
last of the sixth inning when
after two men were out, a Dun-!
dee error allowed Vic 3Hauessler
to reach first (base. With Haues-
sler on, Eugene Weed, next man
up, drove the first pitch into tlie
frog-pond in deep left field for a
home run. Saline had previously
scored its initial run in the third.
Dundee's scoring was confined
to the fourth frame when a
triple, an error, and a double
were assesmbled for two runs.
The pitching was better in this
'game ttian in any that Saline has
played this year, "Lefty" Bredernitz allowing but seven hits.
Saline's infield rose to the occasion and played air-tight ball
all afternoon and also looked
more potent at Ibat.
Battery honors once more went
to Bredernitz with two for two,
but the four-ply blow by Weed
stole the show as, far as batting
was concerned.
Vinee Jacobs, local left fielder,
brought the crowd to its feet in
the fourth when he rah deep to
his right to spear a line drive
whfich looked like a sure hit.

Roosevelt being the one error.
The track team journeys to

are fairly potent in first place

all-around strength. On the basis

With Haues- sler on, Eugene Weed, next man up, drove the first pitch into tlie frog-pond in deep left field for a home run. Saline had previously scored its initial run in the third. Dundee's scoring was confined to the fourth frame when a triple, an error, and a double were assesmbled for two runs. The pitching was better in this 'game ttian in any that Saline has played this year, "Lefty" Bredernitz allowing but seven hits. Saline's infield rose to the occasion and played air-tight ball all afternoon and also looked more potent at Ibat. Battery honors once more went to Bredernitz with two for two, but the four-ply blow by Weed stole the show as, far as batting was concerned. Vinee Jacobs, local left fielder, brought the crowd to its feet in the fourth when he rah deep to his right to spear a line drive whfich looked like a sure hit. (R) def. Winkle (S) 6-0, 6-3.
