PROGNOSTICATIONS
Bud «3MacArthur
Before laying this column in
mothballs until fall, I would like
to venture out on a limb and
make a stab at predicting the
Saline chances in various athletic fields in 1940.
3En football the Hornets and
Flat Rock should he the leading
contenders, with both teams being too evenly matched to predict
a settlement These two teams
should be head and shoulders a-
boys aU league competition next 3
fall. '
BasketbaU wUl find the same
situation, this time involving Saline and U. 3High. The local forces, captained by Mel Schaefer,
should have things their own
way except for the U. High tut
which they should take by a
close margin. IT. High wUl have
but three outstanding players,
while Saline wUl have a first
squad of potential stars.
Spring sports should be outstanding, particularly base baU
and tennis, with these sports losing butTittle through graduation
Track wiU be improved but Saline wUl not be ready to take
the Huron league track title until the spring of 1912, as it
takes from two to threo years to
develop standout men.

PROGNOSTICATIONS Bud «3MacArthur Before laying this column in mothballs until fall, I would like to venture out on a limb and make a stab at predicting the Saline chances in various athletic fields in 1940. 3En football the Hornets and Flat Rock should he the leading contenders, with both teams being too evenly matched to predict a settlement These two teams should be head and shoulders a- boys aU league competition next 3 fall. ' BasketbaU wUl find the same situation, this time involving Saline and U. 3High. The local forces, captained by Mel Schaefer, should have things their own way except for the U. High tut which they should take by a close margin. IT. High wUl have but three outstanding players, while Saline wUl have a first squad of potential stars. Spring sports should be outstanding, particularly base baU and tennis, with these sports losing butTittle through graduation Track wiU be improved but Saline wUl not be ready to take the Huron league track title until the spring of 1912, as it takes from two to threo years to develop standout men.
