\\Observes Ninety Third
Birth Anniversary
SEEN AN' HEARD
Tiie T~
IbegWii Perseverini
Again we honor the birtih date of
George Washington, the first President
of these United States. In so doing, we
honor a man who had the ability of
leadership, but more than that, was" a
hard worker, using his brainpower to
win this country's independence. During
that dreadful winter at Valley Forge
his enormous persevering qualities were
brought out. We need such abilities
again and everyone of us must practice using them every day in the year.

So Tried Another Stunt.
Otto Wahl, brother of >Da-
cob and Rudolph Wahl, has
iromoted to staff sergeant
and is now leader of a machine
gun section in the Sixth Army.
Wahl is a veteran of one campaign against the Japs and once
startled his company by taking a
machine gun into a tree when he
found he wasn't doing much damage firing through the dense underbrush. After he had shown it
could be done, other machine gun
squads followed his example.
The sergeant was found in a
new Jungle camp littered with
supplies and equipment being
sorted and stored. Men were moving in every direction, carrying
boxes of tools, cutting brush with
machetes, and building racks,
platforms and- tables".
