Large Crowd Enjoys
High School Concert
Singing before a near capacity audience, the High School
Glee Clubs and Mixed Chorus
presented a very pleasing and
inspiring concert last Wednesday
evening at the scool auditorium.
These groups under the direction of Mr. Arthur Katterjohn
gave evidence of much hard
work- and effort in the preparation of this program as the
sang with such inspiration. For
all those who attended, the program was very enjoyable, and
was perhaps the highlight of
this Christmas season here in
Saline.
The program opened with the
singing of carols by the audience—Joy To the World and
O Come All Ye Faithful. This
was followed by a lovely caTol,
No Candlei Was There and No
Fire, sung by the Girls Glee
Club with Christina Schnierie
singing the solo. After another
carol, the Girls sang two more
numbers—Hark Now O Shep-
hards and Winter Wonderland.
The second portion of the eon-
cert opened with the carol It j
Came Upon the Midnight Clear.'
Then the Mixed Chorus asembled!
themseles and sang the beautiful song O Holy Night. After
the Boys Glee Club sang We
Three Kings of Orient Are, the
Mixed Chorus and the popular
carol White Christmas^ and the
Waring arangement of 'Twas
the Night Before Christmas.
The last portion of the concert was opened with Mrs. Rosemary Katterjohn singing the
soprano solo—Jesu Bambino.
The Mixed Chorus then closed
the concert by singing a Bach
Choral—Break Forth O Beaur-
eous Heaenly Light, and the
triumphant Hallelujah Chorus
from Handel's Messiah. This
piece was certainly the climax
of the Concert, and was a fitting one to end such a fine program.
The program was acompanied
by Karen Taylor. Members of
the Mixed Chorus included in
this program are as follows:

The Christmas basket project
•seems to be well underway also-
Rudy Layher, jr. is chairman of
this committee. The auxiliary is:
preparing the clothing and this
year the ladies of the auxiliary
are supplying some of, the canned
food for the baskets from their
own stock. This is a great help
because our budget is limited and
this gesture on the part of the ladies makes it posible to provide
bigger and better baskets.
We have a problem that is not
uncommon to anyone, time. You
have undoubtedly noticed the lights
on the four corners. There will
be more if we can get time to
string them. This operation takes
several men and they are all trying very hard to get together at
one time to do the job.
