RONAN HALL FEASIBILITY STUDY:
It was moved by James Umphrey, seconded by Nn. Jeon Backus and carried
"'01 Eberle M. Smith, Associates, Inc . be employed on a time and materia l
basis to make a feasibIlity study on the use of Rooon Residence Hall.
DORMITORY CONDITIONS AND HOUSING PROSPECTS:
Dr. Bovee indicated that for a period of approximate ly eight weeks this fa ll
there will be on overload of dudents in the dorms. There will be a fifth bed
in a ll suites designed for four people. The overload results from the delay in
completion of the High Rise Dormitory units. One tower was to be completed
in September with the secood, third and fou rth towers being completed in
succeeding months. Becouse of stri kes, bot\, on site and with suppliers, the
first tower will nat be open on schedule and may be as late as eight weeks.
In the one bedroom NPrrled Student Apartments, 156 apartments are all ossigned
and there Iso woiti ng list of76. In the twobedraom NPrried Student Apartments,
2fJ7 apartments are assigned and there is a waiting list of 30.
ADJUNCT PROFESSORIAL RANKS:
President Boyd requested approval from the Boord of Trustees to e$tablish adjunct
professorial ranks. The President wished to hire 01'1 a par t- time basis, with the
approval of the appropriate departments, Individuals who have expertise in
certain areas who would not ordinarily be available for permanent positions.
This form of appointment h utilized at many universities and the title would
be Adjunct Professor, Adjunct Associate Professor and Adjunct Assistant
Professor. Motion was made by Mrs. Katharine Hofstad, seconded by Mrs.
Jean Ba ckus and carried that the Board a pprove the establishment of adjunct
professorial ranks.

ANNEXATION:
Dr. N. C. Bovee reported thot the University has reinstated its annexation
petition to incorporate arl of the University property into the City of Mt.
Pleasant. The petition has also been filed with the Union Township Boord.
The petititon includes all of the property south of Broomfield Road with the
exception of four parcels. Four families (Klumpp, Mead, O'Connor and
Verleger) retained the right to their homes and out buildings, for various
periods of time, in their purchase ogreements. These families wish to remin
their voting rights in the township. Dr. Bovee was optimistic that the
annexation would occur in the near future.
ADMINISTRATIVE SALARIES:
Motion was made by Mr5. Katharine Hafstod, seconded by Wolter Wighhnfn
and carried that the increase in administrative salaries for Deans and Vice
Presidents, as recommended by President Bayd, be approved, retroac,ive to
July.
It was moved by James Umphrey, seconded by Mn. Katharine Hofstad and
carried that the salary increase for President Bayd be approved, retroactive
to July.
The next meeting of the Board will be September 17, 1969.
