MICHIGAN CONSOLIDATED GAS COMPANY EASEMENT
The Michigon Consolidated Gas Company wishes to construct 0 new
service Une to the University's Power House from Broomfield Rood. A
fifteen foot easement a long the University's Ead property line from
Broomfield Rood to the Heating Plant hos been requested.
It wes moved by Dr. lloyd Cofer, seconded by Dr. Roger Busfield, ond
carried, that the following Resolution granting to the Michigan Conrolldoted
Gas Company on easement across University property from Broomfield Road
to me Power House be approved and that said document be signed by on
officer of the University.

WHEREAS, The Michigan Consolidated Gas Company has
requested 0 fifteen-foot easement along the University's
east property bovndory from s.-oomfield Rood, north to the
University Power Hoose, for the purpose of providing an
additiorool gas line to the University's Power House in
order to provide a po$itive and reliable gas supply for the
Uni versity,
BE IT RESOLVED, That sold easement be granted.
NORVALL C. BOVEE LOAN FUND:
It wos moved by Mn. Katharine Hofstad, seconded by Miss Dee Boersma,
ond corried, that gifts approximating $2,340 be accepted by the Boord
of Trustees ond thot the following statement be approved for perpetual
printing in the University catalog :
"Norvall C. Bovee Loon Fund
The Norvall C. Bovee loon Fund was established by relatives,
friends, and col leagues In December, 1970, after his untimely
death. The fund is In memory of Vice President Bovee for his
leade~hip and inspiration through mony yeors of untiring
service to the University ond the community and his demanstrated
fa ith in the youth of America. The food is available for small,
short-term interest free loons to students of the University."
WilliAM VALENTINE SPEECH SCHOLARSHIPS:
It was moved by Dr. Roger Busfleld, seconded by N.n. Kathorine Hofstad,
and carried, that gifn approximating $1,640 be accepted by the Boord
of Trustees and that the following statement be approved for perpetual
printing in the University cata log:
"William Valentine Speech Scholarships
The William Valentine Speech Scholarships were established in
his memory by his family ond friends ta provide encouragement
for two worthy students planning to enter the teaching profession
in Speech Communication. Professor Valentine, a member of the
Central Michigan University Speech Faculty at the time of his
deoth, was nationally recognized for his achievemenn os 0

named "Michigan Educator of the Year" in 1966 by the
Junior Chamber of Convnerce, and honored by two reso lutions

Debate are each awarded in the Spring to a freshfTlOn,
~e, or junior Speech major or minor demonstrating
probable teaching success through scholarship and activity in
the Central Michigan Univenity Forensic program. Recipients
are selected by the Director of Forensics and Chairman of the
Speech Department. "

SPECIAL REPORT:
Dr. Lloyd Cofer gQ\l'e a report on the meeting of governing boords of
state colleges and universities held at EIl$tern Michigan lkIlverslty
on January 30, 1971.
STAFF REPORTS:
Dr. Charles J. Ping gave a report on Curriculum Development and
Planning. The Board of Education has approved our request for new
majors and degree programs which will be implemented in the fall of 1971.
President Boyd gave a report on executive budget recommendotiom.
1*. Rick Kedzierski , student body president, robed a question relative
to the money fOf the student events building. Nr. Arthur E. Ellls,
Vice President fOf Public Affairs, stoted that money contributed by
student fHs fOf this building would remain ooder coolTol of the Boord
of Trustees .
President Boyd stated that members of the Search Committee, Vice
President for Business and Finance have been a ppointed. Representatives
are from the Acodemlc Senate, Student Senate, PTS Council,
Admi nistrative Staff, and by Presidentiol appointment.
The next Board of Trustees meeting will be held tv\arch 17, 1971.
