FACULTY HOUSING COMMITTEE REPORT:
Dr. N. C. Bovee reported thot ot the Dflcember meeting of the Faculty Housing
Committee, dhcussions wete held regarding the length of lime staff mould be
allowed 10 live in Univenity housing; acquisition of future housing; and the
possibility of the Credit Union being expanded with a brooder bo~ to provide
funds for staff for housing.
The next meeting of the Boord of Trustees wil l be February 18, 1970.
The meeting was ad journed at 2:40 P.M.

KARL HOWE LOAN FUND:
It was moved by James Umphrey, seconded by Katharine Hofstad and carried
that gifts for the Karl Howe Loon Fund be accepted and the fund be established
as a long tenn loon fund. It is further recommended that the fallowing statement
be adapted as a statement to be printed perpetually in the University cata log:
" The Karl Howe Loon Fund was mode available through contributions
from relatives, students and friends in memory of Karl Howe, a member
of the Business Education Deportment from 1956 to 1969. loons are
made on a priority basis to students in Business EdU(:o tion, Pre- law,
Foreign language, Music or other curricula . n
JACK D. SERJER STUDENT LOAN FUND:
Motion WIlS made by Katharine Hofstad, seconded by James Umphrey and carried
that gifh for the Jack D. Serier Student Loon Fund be accepted and that the
fol lowing statement be approved for perpetual printing in the Un iversity catalog:
" The Jock D. Serier Student Loon Fund was established by his fam ily
and friends as a memorial to Jack, a 1964 graduate of Central Michigan
University . This loon fund is to be used primarily for students in the
field of mathematics. "

It was moved by Alfred Fortino, seconded by Lloyd Cofer and carried thot the
PTS Solary Schedule and Handbook far Fringe Benefits and Personnel Policies
for a ll stoff classified under the PTS sa lary schedule, as furnished to Boord
memben a t the December, 1969 meeting , be opproved. (Copy on file in the

TRAVEL ALLOWANCE:
f'oIotian WIlS mode by Wolter Wightman, seconded by James Umphrey and carried
that the new trovel rotes set forth in the document, "Centro I Michigan Univanity
Trovel Allowance Comparison/Recommendation November, 1969", furnished to
the Board of Trustees at the December, 1969 meeting, be adapted and made effective
February I, 1970. (Copy on file in the Secretory's Office).
RONAN RESIDENT HALL DEMOLITION:
Motion was mode by Alfred Fortino, seconded by James Umphrey and ccrried
thot based upan the recommendatian contoined in the Engineering Study, it is
recommended that the Board of Trustees authorize the Administration to:
A. Secure approval and funds for the demol ition of the Ronan
Residence Hall from the State legislature
B. Advise the P.nn Arbor Trust Company (bond trustees) to
make the necessary arrongements with the bond holden
for the e limina tion of th is faci lity
CHANGES IN FEE SCHEDULE :
1. Late Registration Fee
It was moved by Alfred Fortino, seconded by Lawrence Rahilly and
carried that the late registrotion fee be increased from $5.00 ta
$10.00
2. Out-of-State Fee
Motian was mode by Wolter Wightman, seconded by Katharine Hofstad
and carried to increase tultian $154 per year for out-ohtate students,
or $77 per term.
3. Capital Plant Fee
Motion was made by Kotharlne Hafstad, seconded by Lloyd Cofer and
carried that beginning with the Fall Semester, 1970, students will be
assessed $20 per year to finance the new Student Events Buil ding .

STUDENT WOMEN'S HOURS:
Motion was made by Alfred fort ino, seconded by lawrence Rohil ly and carried
that the University approve 0 "no hoursM policy for women students except for
first semester f reshmen and for those women under 21 years of age whose parents
specificolly request hours supervision as established for first semester freshmen.
Voting agoinst the proposa l were Kothorine Hofstad , James Umphrey and
Wolter Wightman.
It was moved by Alfred Fortino, seconded by Lawrence Rahilly lho t the University
opproved housing units be permitted to establish programs of room vis ita tion
within existing University gui de lines without limitotion os to the number of visita tion
events per week . Voting,ogoinst the recommendation were Lloyd Cofer, Katharine
Hofstad , James Umphrey and Wol ter Wightman . Therefore, the recommendation
did not pass.
fRED R. BUSH THEATRE:
Motion was mode by lawrence Rahilly, seconded by Alfred Fortino and carried
that the new UniveT5 ity theater by named the fred R. Bush Theatre in honor of
~. Bush wha served as Director of Drama tics, la ter 05 Director of University
Theatre, from the fal l af 1939 to M:J.y f 1964, the year of his death .
