VMEREAS , Gilbert Rau has deyoted 27 years of dedicated
service to the students of Central Michigan University,
including contributions to the General Semantics and
Publ ic Speaking areas, the basic speech course and to
the University's debate and forensic activities; and
WHEREAS, He has shared his rich knowledge wI th col leagues
and the COlmlunity through his afflliatiOf'l with the
Academic Senate and his presentations to a yariety of
service clubs in the city and county; and
WHEREAS, Through his poetry he haS enhanced the quality
of I ife and appreciation of beauty for uncounted students.

Mrs. Katharine Hafstad, stated that the committee reviewed the proposed
changes in probationary periods for tenure recommendations as adopted by
the Academic Senate, October 12, 1982, The proposal has been sublllitted
to the FilCulty AssociatIon for approval.
SELECTION OF EXTERNAL AUDITOR (Finance Com.lttee):

BE IT RESOLVED, That Ernst' Whlnney be retained as
auditors for the fiscal year end ing June 3D, 1983 and
for the four subsequetlt fiscal years, unless the Ba.rd
of Trustees terminates the agreement for cause.

Family Grant established by the Board of Trustees at
its !'leetlng on September 3D, 1978 is t!1i~inated as to
f,milies where no son or daughter first entered the
University prior to Winter Semester 1983. In those
cases where a son or daughter attended Central prior
to Winter Ser:-ester 1983. solely in rei lance on the
fami Iy GraM, the family grant as described in the
applicable University Bulletin wil l be honored. The
administration Is authorized to Implement rules to
carry out the intent of this resolution.
